Autel EVO Max 4N: 0.0001 LUX Starlight Vision for Night Operations and Public Safety
The Autel EVO Max 4N is a night operations drone built around a Starlight Vision camera capable of resolving clear imagery at light levels as low as 0.0001 LUX, well beyond the limits of conventional thermal sensors when targets and surroundings share similar temperatures. Combined with a 640x512 thermal camera, a 50MP wide-angle camera, and a laser rangefinder accurate to within centimeters, the EVO Max 4N delivers four distinct ways to see a scene without swapping payloads between mission types.
Key Features and Benefits
Starlight Vision camera: resolves clear imagery at 0.0001 LUX independent of thermal differentials.
5 km detection range: identifies light sources like phones or vehicle lights at night.
Quad-sensor payload: Starlight Vision, wide-angle, thermal, and laser rangefinder in one gimbal.
Glass penetration capability: resolves target details through windows and vehicle glass at night.
Laser rangefinder: supports ground team target positioning via night vision goggle coordination.
15 km transmission range: maintains stable control link across extended operational distances.
42-minute max flight time: hot-swappable batteries extend coverage without frequent downtime.
IP43-rated protection: supports reliable operation in dust and light rain conditions.
Built on Autel Autonomy's autonomous flight technology, the EVO Max 4N supports global path planning, 3D scene reconstruction, and reliable return-to-home capability in complex environments. A-Mesh networking connects multiple aircraft and ground terminals without centralized infrastructure, while SLAM-based visual navigation keeps the platform stable when GPS signals are weak or obstructed.
One Camera Doesn't Have to Mean One Compromise
Most night vision options force a tradeoff: thermal sensors lose contrast when temperatures converge, while active illumination gives away your position. The EVO Max 4N sidesteps both. Its Starlight Vision camera resolves usable detail at 0.0001 LUX without depending on heat differentials, and because it doesn't rely on emitted light, it keeps a lower signature than infrared-based systems during covert work.
Pair that with a wide-angle camera for situational context, a thermal sensor for the cases where heat detection still matters most, and a laser rangefinder for distance-accurate target marking, and operators get four tools that cover different gaps rather than one camera stretched across every scenario.

Applications and Use Cases
Law enforcement units: Starlight Vision identifies subjects and vehicles in low-light field conditions.
Security patrol teams: covert night surveillance with reduced detection risk compared to infrared illumination.
Emergency search and rescue crews: 5 km detection range locates light sources across large search areas.
Firefighting and rescue operations: see-through-glass capability assesses structures before entry decisions.
Border and perimeter security: A-Mesh relay operations extend coverage across remote or signal-poor terrain.
Geographical survey teams: laser rangefinder and wide-angle camera capture precise distance and terrain data.
Tactical team coordination: laser rangefinder enables precise target marking for night vision-equipped ground units.
The EVO Max 4N exists for operators who need to see clearly after dark without relying on thermal differentials or active illumination that compromises stealth. With a quad-sensor payload, 720° obstacle avoidance, and A-Mesh networking, this platform delivers decision-grade visibility for extended night operations.
At DSLRPros, every Autel unit is evaluated by real-world operators, not just bench-tested. We've worked with police, fire, and disaster response teams across the U.S. on bundle configuration, mission planning, and FAA Part 107 compliance support.
